Bridal Q&A

Why should I book a make-up artist?
A professional make-up artist is the key to looking your very best on your wedding day. Most women know how to apply their make-up to best suit their everyday style, however many women don't understand how to apply make-up for photographs. Having your make-up applied professionally will give you the confidence that every aspect of your special occasion has been perfected!

I don't usually wear make-up, or only a little, will I look like me?
You will look like you, but your skin will be flawless and your features naturally enhanced to create a more stunning looking you! A make-up trial is always recommended, especially for those who are unsure of how they will look when professionally made up, most women have not had their make-up applied professionally until their wedding day.

How long does make-up application take?

Between 30-45 minutes, depending on the style of make-up that you require. Adding false lashes for example takes extra time, as does creating an evening look compared to a daytime look.

What is done first, hair or make-up?
It is ideal to do your make-up last so it is as fresh as possible before your event.

Will my make-up last all day & night?
Your make-up will require touch ups, as any make-up artist will tell you, make-up shifts simply being exposed to heat, dry air, wind, air-conditioning, eating, drinking & kissing! Professional make-up involves selecting the right products for your skin type, as well as pre-paring the skin correctly and setting the make-up to hold it in place for as long as possible. Always bring your own make-up along with you to trials, and on the event day, then the make-up artist can select products from your make-up bag to use for touch ups.

How should I prepare my skin for consultation?
A fresh clean face is ideal, but artists always have products at hand to cleanse and prepare your skin.

What should I bring to my make-up trial consultation?
Most brides have a collection of bridal magazines with tabs on their favourite pages, this is ideal to bring along to your consultation to get an idea of the look you would like to create. It is always a good idea to bring your own make-up bag with you for advise on colour and products that you will need for touch ups. If already chosen, do bring a photograph or similar of your wedding dress and your veil. Also, knowing the colour(s) of your bridal party, flowers and other wedding accents will help create a look that is perfect for you.
